Dry and warm southeast, then rain tonight

Good morning,

We start the new month with rain moving in from the west, setting in heavily for Wales and western hills of England during the daytime. Rain also affects Scotland and Ireland, though breaking up into showers in the west with time.

Central and southeastern parts escape largely dry and fairly warm during much of the daytime, then a heavy swathe of rain moves across the south into the later evening and night.

Southwesterly breezes will freshen for all, rather windy around Irish Sea coasts and the southwest.

There's more wind and rain to come during the week ahead, with some heavy and thundery showers for Tuesday.

Today's top temperatures will reach 22C in the southeast, a humid 19C in central areas, but nearer 15C toward the west in rain. Northeast Scotland also locally warmer at 18 or 19C on the Moray coast.

Have a great day.
